Winter readiness

Every year, thousands of households discover their boiler has a problem only when they switch the heating back on for winter - usually on the coldest night, when engineers are in highest demand. National Test Your Boiler Day is a simple idea: test your boiler and heating now, while the weather's still mild, so any issues can be sorted before you actually need the heating. It takes a few minutes and could save you a cold, uncomfortable start to winter. That's why we've teamed up with Poplar HARCA to encourage residents to check in.

How to check
Icon01-Thermostat

Set the thermostat as you would in winter and let it run for 15–30 minutes.

Icon02-Radiator

Make sure they're heating up evenly, top and bottom. Cold patches can mean trapped air or sludge build-up.

Icon03-Gauge

Most boilers show this on a gauge or display. Check your manual for the correct range.

Icon03-Listen

Any unusual noises, leaks, or error codes on the display are worth noting.
